Though using essential oils in your every day life may benefit you in so many ways, you should use them with great caution.
They are very concentrated, powerfull raw matterials (e.g. it may take upto 6kgr of flowers to produce only 10-15ml of essential oil), so you can imagine that a little does go a long way with Essential oils!
If you plan to use essential oils topicaly you must dilute them first in a carrier oil (e.g. sweet almond oil, macadamia oil, grapeseed oil) to avoid skin irritation.
A rough guide for diluting them is 10-20drops in 100ml of oil for face and upto 30 drops in 100ml of oil for body use. (these ratios are for adults only)
